Suiran Griffins is a coined word combining “Suiran,” which signifies the refreshing breeze blowing through lush green trees, with “Griffins,” the legendary divine beast possessing the keen vision and soaring power of an eagle, along with the bravery and strength of a lion. This name embodies our desire to be a team that dominates the court with agile and flexible play filled with speed, and overwhelming power born from strong unity, aiming to deliver excitement and inspiration to our audience.

This emblem was created as a symbol embodying the team’s agility, strength, and unity. It depicts a mascot inspired by the legendary divine beast “Griffins,” gazing sharply forward and poised for a powerful takeoff. The shining white wings represent the team’s spirit of facing any challenge and continuously striving for higher goals, envisioning a play style that combines the dynamism of Griffins soaring through the sky with calm, strategic thinking. This emblem signifies our aspiration for Suiran Griffins to continue being a team that inspires audiences and seizes victory.

Team History

The Suiran Griffins are a women’s volleyball team established in 2024, based in Tokyo.

The team was founded with the vision of “creating a place where young talent can challenge themselves and grow,” starting with members primarily composed of university students and recent graduates.

From its inception, the team has adhered to a management philosophy that prioritizes the growth of each individual player, rather than solely focusing on victories. Our practice venues are centered around gymnasiums within Tokyo, and we are also promoting collaboration with schools and local communities, aiming to both improve our competitive level and contribute to the region.

The year 2024 is positioned as a “foundational year” for the team, with a strong focus on strengthening fundamental skills and fostering a unique team culture.

Moving forward, we plan to participate in local events and engage with junior generations, continuing our activities with the goal of becoming a club widely loved by all.

In our coaching, we emphasize fostering opportunities for dialogue rather than unilateral instruction, encouraging players to think, “Why choose that play?” and “How can I improve it?” We believe that this continuous process cultivates players who can think independently and make decisions according to the situation, ultimately elevating the team’s overall strength.

Beyond the wins and losses, our vision for the team is for our players to feel, “The time spent with this team allowed me to grow significantly.”
